For three consecutive days from 10 -12 November 2008, Institute of Space Technology (IST) arranged Space Technology Awareness lectures in different schools and colleges of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Workshop
.
Institute of Space Technology (IST) held a two-day workshop on “Space Technology” in Islamabad. Secondary and high school students from different schools attended this workshop. The students visited the state-of-the-art laboratories at IST and attended series of lectures on communications systems and aerospace engineering spanning over 8 hours.

Space Week Walk
.
On 11 November 2008 IST organized a Space Week Walk at Rawal Lake view. Faculty members and students of various educational institutions in Rawalpindi and Islamabad participated in this walk displaying thought provoking banners and placards. At the end of the walk, IST students performed a street theatre for creating awareness of the importance of space technology in Pakistan.

Symposium
.
On 13 November 2008 a “Space Technology Symposium” was held at IST where scientists presented research papers on themes like Inertial Navigation System, Geographic Information System, satellite communications etc.
Essay and story writing competition
.
IST organized an essay and story writing competition for school students on 15 and 16 November 2008. This helped unveil the imaginative ideas that students foster about space exploration.

Declamation Contests
.
A bilingual declamation contest consisting both serious and humorous topics was held at IST on 15 and16 November 2008. Students expressed their ideas about exploration of the universe and debated over the pros and cons of exploring the universe for the benefit of mankind.

Painting competition
.
A painting competition was also held at IST on 15 and16 November 2008. This was a unique opportunity for the students to express their imagination about exploring the universe through their creative expression with colors and art.

Water Rocket and Aero Modeling competitions
.
Water rocket and aero modeling competitions were held in Islamabad during WSW 2008 celebrations. These competitions attracted a large number of students. Participating students developed awareness of rocket and airplane building and their dynamics. Students were also made aware of different education and career options in Space Technology in Pakistan.

Astronomy Night
.
On 12 November 2008, an astronomy night was held at IST roof top. School students got an opportunity to view different planets and stars through the SUPARCO telescope and experts delivered lectures on space sciences and technology.

Space Family Fair
.
A two-day space family fair was held at Institute of Space Technology (IST) Islamabad from 15 – 16 November 2008. The fair included book stalls, aero modeling stall, space gallery, planetarium, science caravan etc. A Space Theatre was also set up where space related movies, documentaries and cartoon shows entertained students and general public of all age groups. The fair concluded with a closing and prize distribution ceremony where winners of various competitions held in Islamabad were given prizes.
