Level 2A scenes are rectified to match a standard map projection (UTM/ WGS 84), without using ground control points. Geometric corrections use a re-sampling model that
compensates for systematic distortions effects and performs transformation needed to project the image in a system of user choice. This model is based on known viewing parameters such
as satellite ephemeric data, attitude etc and does not use external measurements. |

Level-3 imagery is geo-referenced and is also called orthoimage. It is preprocessed using a Digital Elevation Model (DEM). Geometric corrections "ortho-rectify" imagery
using a re-sampling model that compensates for systematic distortion effects and performs transformations needed to project image in a specified projection (Lambert conformal,
UTM, oblique equatorial, polar stereographic, polyconic etc). |
